Follow the steps outlined below to join.

STEP 2 – FAA Registration

Before you can start flying, you need to register your model aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). If your aircraft weighs more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams), head over to the FAA Drone Zone to complete the registration. Once registered, make sure to label your aircraft with the provided registration number. This step is crucial for accountability and safety. The FAA registration number will be required when filling out the membership form in step 5.

STEP 3 – TRUST Test

All recreational flyers must pass the TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test). This free online test covers basic safety and legal requirements. It’s quick and easy, and you can take it through an FAA-approved test administrator, like the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). Passing this test ensures you understand the fundamental rules of flying.
